Cooper Black Letterpress Postcard – Typography Series
A small tribute to one of the most recognisable typefaces in graphic design history.
Originally designed by Oswald Bruce Cooper in 1922, Cooper Black became known for its warm curves, chunky forms, and unmistakably cheerful personality. From vintage advertising to album covers and everyday ephemera, it’s a typeface that somehow feels both nostalgic and timeless all at once.
This postcard reinterprets Cooper Black as a playful typographic portrait — reduced into simple forms, punctuation marks, and bold black shapes. Printed letterpress on softly textured stock, allowing the rich ink coverage and subtle impression to take centre stage.
Part of our ongoing Typography Series exploring iconic typefaces through print and paper.
