Cideco Industrial Complex and the buildings within its vicinity are interesting due to the bright and different colours, a breath of fresh air in a very industralised space. Within one of the many industrial estates in Singapore, Macpherson, The Gentlemen’s Press calls this interesting coloured building, home. The Gentlemen’s Press was established in 2011 by a team of designers and printers specialising in letterpress. Like how letterpress incorporates a mechanical process with an artistic impression, The Gentlemen’s Press being in an industrial space mimics that idea. Aside from this studio, industrial spaces in Singapore have been favourable among artists and collectives as studios for practice and production of work. It works well for most as they usually include large space, feasible price and accessibility to other manufacturing companies.
